Video content in the digital age

Were you the kid who constructed a microphone from a paper-towel roll and a tennis ball? Who interviewed new neighbors when they moved in? Who created videos of your pet? Chances are you’re a natural storyteller and a broadcasting degree is for you. At Susquehanna, you start gaining experience, either in front of the camera or behind it, your first semester.

Video content is an expanding industry, in size, revenue and technology. With better software and more streaming services coming online, career options continue to expand. You will work side by side with award-winning faculty who will help you with practical matters like writing excellent copy, creating motion graphics and the many other aspects of video production. They will also recommend you for internships and jobs in the industry.

Susquehanna maintains state-of-the-art equipment for our students, including a video studio, a podcast studio and the most powerful student-run college FM radio station in the state. You will gain hands-on experience as a member of the Lens Flare team, which produces high-quality videos for departments across campus.

Additionally, you will be fully trained in media and the law, ethics, communication and media theory and analytics, which fuel ratings and rankings. You will graduate with an impressive portfolio and the professional acumen of a seasoned content creator.

“Susquehanna felt like home the moment I walked on campus. I was blown away by the broadcasting studios and computer labs during my first visit on campus. Because Susquehanna is a smaller school, underclassmen get hands-on opportunities with the equipment. Within the first month of attending SU, I was already working an on-campus job as a studio technician and crewing the student-run sports broadcasts. Larger universities just don’t provide access to first years like that!”
